Carboxy Methyl Cellulose(CMC) is also named as Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose,is easy soluble in both cold and hot water. Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is a water-soluble anionic cellulose ether derived from natural cellulose through chemical modification.It provides good properties of thickening, water retention, film-forming, rheology and lubricity, which enable CMC cover a wind range of applications like food, personal care products, industrial paints, ceramics, oil drilling, building materials etc.CMC is synthesized by treating cellulose with sodium monochloroacetate in an alkaline medium, resulting in the carboxymethylation of hydroxyl (-OH) groups in the cellulose chain.
